Dani Alves picked up his injury right before the Getafe game. Alves had been cleared to play in the Getafe game but suffered a calf injury in the warm up session prior to the game and will be out for about three weeks. Sadly, there would be more misery as it was also revealed after the Getafe game that Touré Yaya picked up an injury. Touré will be sidelined for 10 to 15 days after suffering a thigh injury in his left leg. There is a strong likelihood that both players might miss the Champions League trip to Germany against VfB Stuttgart on February 23rd.
FC Barcelona fought hard to gain three points against Getafe with a 2-1 victory. Barcelona ended the game with just 9 players after both Gerard Piqué and Rafa Márquez were both sent off with direct red cards. Barcelona got a goal from Messi in the first half and Messi assisted on Xavi’s goal in the second half. Getafe got their lone goal in injury time when Soldado converted from the penalty spot. The win ensured that Barcelona would not drop any points but also meant the loss of Piqué and Rafa Márquez for their next game against Atletico Madrid because of their red cards.
