It took the construction tycoon four summers to rack up a tab of $219 million for the originals. It took less than four weeks this summer to eclipse that mark by over $80 million.

Barça's defensive midfielder Touré Yayá has finally agreed on a new contract that will bind him to Barcelona until 2012. The new contract gives him an important salary increase and replaces the contract he signed when he first came to Barcelona from Monaco and nobody really knew what he was able to do on the pitch.

Tierry Henry (32), the FC Barcelona French striker, is on a marketing tour in New York, he played in a charity event a game and had the opportunity to chat with good friends of him such as Steve Nash (Phoneix Suns) or Claudio Reyna (New York Red Bulls).

It seems that after winning a treble, some have forgotten about it by focusing on the upcoming summer transfer market. Real Madrid has already made a big splash by agreeing to get Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo. The problem was that the big splash increased the value of all the remaining players and might have priced them out of Barcelona’s range. Should Barcelona panic and cave into high transfer demands or be patient and smart in how to invest their transfer funds?

According to today's news reports, ESPN has reached an agreement with GolTV to share its U.S. television rights to Spain's La Liga. GolTV, which has aired La Liga action in the U.S. for the last six seasons, renewed its deal with Mediapro in March for three more seasons. Today's deal is seen as an attempt by ESPN to increase the distribution of Deportes via more cable networks and a way for GolTV, which has limited distribution, to recoup some of its investments.

Before the 2009-10 season officially kicks off with the Spanish Super Cup, Barça will play five preseason matches in the UK and the USA. In total the players will make a round trip of 24,167 kilometers. Compared to last year, Barça will visit only two countries instead of three but will actually travel further – 24,167 km instead of 19,000. This year the main difference is that the team will be going to the more distant west coast of America.
