FCB ESP 2017-2018

FC Barcelona defeated Espanyol in the Derbi barceloní by crushing their derby rivals 5-0 at the Camp Nou. Messi opened the scoring in the 26th minute, albeit from an offside position. Messi grabbed his brace in the 35th minute and completed his hat trick in the 67th minute. Pique then scored the team’s fourth in the 87th minute before Suarez finished off debutant Dembélé’s pass for the fifth and final goal in the 89th minute.

This result, coupled with Real Madrid’s 1-1 draw to Levante, meant Barça were atop of the league standings with 9 points. Next up for Barça will be their first match of their UEFA Champions League group stage when they host Juventus, who eliminated them in this competition last season, at the Camp Nou on Tuesday.
