Barça continued their impressive league run with a 2-0 victory in Málaga. Goals from Luis Suarez and Coutinho in the first half were enough for the Blaugrana to remain unbeaten after 35 league matches.
The Blaugrana, who were without Messi as he stayed behind in Barcelona for the birth of his third son, took the lead after Luis Suárez headed in Jordi Alba’s cross in the 14th minute. In the 27th minute, Dembélé sent a low cross in front of the goal that Coutinho got to and score with a magnificent back-heel past the Málaga goalkeeper. A few minutes later, Málaga’s Samuel was sent off for his awful challenge on Alba and the Blaugrana enjoyed an extra man advantage for the next 60 minutes, even though they failed to add to their 2-0 lead.
This result meant Barça remain league leaders with an 8 point lead over second place Atletico Madrid with only 10 matches left in the season. Barça will now shift their attention to Wednesday’s important second leg Champions League encounter against Chelsea.
