FC Barcelona’s attempt to go an entire season unbeaten came to an end following a disappointing but entertaining 5-4 loss to Levante today. Messi did not make the trip for the visiting Blaugrana but Brazilian Philippe Coutinho shined in his absence and scored a hat-trick , but so did Levante’s Emmanuel Boateng . Boateng scored twice to give the hosts the lead before Coutinho pulled one back to make it 2-1 before halftime. The second half saw Levante race to a 5-1 lead courtesy of goals from Bardhi and Boateng. Coutinho then scored twice to make it 5-3 before Luis Suárez scored from the spot to make it 5-4 with 19 minutes to go. Unfortunately, Barça could not find the much needed equalizer and suffered their first loss of the season. Their unbeaten run came to an end after 43 league matches. Next up is a trip to South Africa for a friendly before they wrap up their season at the Camp Nou against Real Sociedad in what will be Iniesta’s final appearance for the club.
