FC Barcelona’s perfect start to the season came to an end following their 2-2 draw in the Catalan Derby against Girona. The Blaugrana took an early lead through a Messi goal but the tide turned after Clement Lenglet was sent off in the 35th minute after his arm made contact with Pere Pons’ face, courtesy of VAR . Girona made the most of their extra man advantage and scored twice Stuani before Pique scored the equalizer after the hour mark with a fine header goal. Neither side would claim another goal in the final thirty minutes of the game and both sides settled for a point. This result meant the Blaugrana remain league leaders, ahead of Real Madrid, based on goal difference. Barça players will have to get over this result because they will be back in action this Wednesday when they travel to Madrid to face Leganés.
