FC Barcelona ended their group stage campaign in the Champions League with a 1-1 draw to Tottenham and as group winners. Manager Ernesto Valverde rested starters such as Messi, Gerard Pique, Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets for today’s game and they were not missed when Dembélé scored an unforgettable goal.
Kyle Walker-Peters’s poor touch was exploited by the Frenchman as he sprinted past Walker-Peters and he then proceeded to fool Harry Winks with a lovely dummy before he calmly slotted the ball past Lloris from close range to give Barça the lead. Messi would come in after the hour mark but the Spurs would be the ones to claim the next goal. Lucas Moura scored five minutes from time to make it 1-1 which was enough to see them finish second in the group since their result matched Inter Milan’s result against PSV and thus both Barça and Spurs qualify for the Champions League last 16. The draw will take place on Monday but Barça will now shift their attention to Sunday’s away trip to Levante.
