FC Barcelona are closing in on the La Liga title after battling for a 2-1 win over Real Sociedad at the Camp Nou, with the goals coming from defenders Clement Lenglet and Jordi Alba. This victory restored the Blaugrana’s nine-point lead atop of the table.
The French defender Lenglet scored his first league goal for the Blaugrana right before the break to give his side the lead after heading in from Dembélé ‘s corner against the gritty visitors. The visitors though would equalize in the 62nd minute through forward Juanmi equalized after sliding in to meet a superb pass from Mikel Merino which allowed him to divert the ball past Ter Stegen. Fortunately, it only took two minutes to respond after Messi picked out Alba, who then cut in from the left wing before curling the ball pass Rulli and into the top corner for the go-ahead goal and what would turn out to be the game winning goal. Barça will be crowned league champions for the 26th time if they defeat both Alaves on Tuesday and Levante next Saturday. They could also clinch the title as soon as Wednesday if they defeat Alaves and Atletico Madrid lose to Valencia. Next up is a tough trip on Tuesday to face Alaves.
